I woke up this morning to this awful racket, hammers going and all sorts of uncouth shouting and the like, and when I looked out the window there was part of a pavilion right there down the street! That's where the nearest markets are, but all the tents are squeezed into half of the space and there are merchants arguing with carpenters and masons and there's a little half circle of guardsmen nearby wagering on who's going to throw the first punch! It's all very exciting! People seem to think that it's something for the holiday, soon. I wondered if there would be anything happening at all, on account of ... everything that's happened, but it seems that there will still be something, after all.

It's been a little better here, this week. The worst of it all has been cleared out of the streets, and you can take a carriage just about anywhere again. I heard some men joking about how things were built better after the storm, so a little quake like that didn't stand a chance. I don't think it was little at all, but it made me smile.
