[Filter: Cassidy and Scott]

Well, it's been nearly a week, now, and there hasn't been a word of suspicion thrown our way. That I've heard, at least. Unless you count Elyiethe. She's very suspicious, but I don't think she's going to push too hard at it because she cares far more about her business than my drama, though she did take me aside the day after and tell me that if she ever catches me using her troupe for any funny business without fully informing her of the situation she will cast me out no matter how good a mage I am.

She's less angry now, though. I think she knows we were doing the right thing, whatever we were doing.

I hope everything is well with you, too?

[Filter: Cassidy]

I haven't heard anything from Floran or Dame Onette, yet, but the journals haven't worked in Floran in over a year, so that's not a surprise. I will tell you as soon as I know something, I promise.
windsweptsummer: (the night grew cold and dark ;;)
[Filter: Jack]

I just can't stop thinking about her!

Is she there yet? Is she okay? What did Sir Nathan and Dame Daisy say, what did they do? Did the letter get there first?! Why doesn't Dame Onette have a journal! Why aren't the journals working in Floran, it's so unfair!!

Oh! And why hasn't Josiah said anything, yet! Every time I pass him he gives me this look and my stomach flips right over and I just know that conversation is on its way. And I want to run away before it happens, or just have it out right now and get it over with! And then maybe run away after because there is just no way we're going to agree!

And -- Is Cassidy okay? We left her there and I do have to say her disguise is very good, she doesn't look like a past streetwalker at all, but she's all by herself and if Genevieve gets even a little suspicious of her it could be very dangerous. If I write to her do you think she'd tell Scott what a terrible worrier I am? I don't want Scott to think I'm weak.

And speaking of

... Oh, I shouldn't

Hmph.

Well!

You don't have to respond to any of that. I just know it'll only stress poor Pearl out and I'm tired of keeping it all in my head!! I feel like life just can't keep going on like normal until we hear about what happened to that poor girl! Did you know Daisy and Nathan? Are they nice? They wouldn't turn her away, would she?

You do have to respond to that!
windsweptsummer: (sup)
[Filter: Pearl]

EVERYTHING IS OKAY.

You don't have to reply. Just calm down! This is just a normal performance, for you, okay?

[Filter: Cassidy]

Cassidy! Ooh, I hope you check this in time, we can't exactly speak freely. Oh, but be careful. Genevieve knows I have a journal, most likely, but you ... well, I'm sure you know that! Never mind me. We just don't want to make her suspicious this early. Or at all, but especially not this early.

[pause]

Sorry, I'm trying to --

Okay! You probably noticed the tea and biscuits! Well, the biscuits are just a tad oversalted and the tea just a bit strong. We need to make sure as many of the children as possible get a share, but especially Delia! And I don't know which one is her, yet, so I'll need your help. We have to make sure she runs to the washroom during intermission or this is going to get much more difficult!

-- I'm heading back out to distribute, but I'll reply whenever I can get a moment!
windsweptsummer: (Default)
[Filter: Cassidy]

I spoke with Elyiethe, and I really can't convince her to go any sooner than the thirteenth! Especially not without being suspicious. She's already a little suspicious at my not being over the moon at her being willing to sacrifice a Friday show for this. Even if it was going to be an understudy performance, because --

You don't care about that, of course, theater nonsense.

I just mean, is there any way to make this work? Will the girl be okay that long? I almost have everything set up to get her out.

[Filter: Josiah]

I want to preface this by saying that I both love and appreciate you and I would never ever ever ask for your help for something not frivolous without very good reason.

[Filter: Princess Fayre]

Princess...? I don't know if you remember me, Lydia? We've spoken a few times and I presently live with several of your friends in Floran.

I know that you are horribly busy and it's terribly untoward of me to write to you this way, but Loki and Jack both assured me that it would be all right, and I perfectly understand if you can't help or even don't respond to this at all.

All of that said, there's a little girl in Norey who needs help, and I know that you like to help people. Especially poor Kanemorians with no one else to turn to! So. Her name is Delia, and she's only six years old. She's in an orphanage right now, Saint Morelle's, and your friend Scott thinks that the priests there are involved in something terrible that may result in Delia being kidnapped or ... worse. So I've been helping him as much as I can. And I have a plan to get her out, and I have a plan for where she can go, and all of this is terribly long winded and I'm so sorry.

The bottom line is that I have no idea how to get her from Kanemoria to Floran even if the rest of my plans go perfectly well. So -- So I was told you might help.
windsweptsummer: (for just one moment ;;)
[Filter: Private]

No one has ever heard of this Father Gladwin fellow, really? Not a single person? Surely that's suspicious by itself.

... I'm not going to report back with nothing!

Think, Lydia! If you can't make yourself useful they'll never ask you for help again. Also, this little girl could be whisked off or worse any day! We don't have time to not make progress!

Josiah would help us get her out. I have that part sorted. It's what to do with her once we have her that I can't figure out. There must be somewhere in Hanalan where she'd be safe, but how to get her there? I suppose I could ask Jack, but could I really trust whoever he finds? Maybe he would have some better idea? But even if we get that sorted, I can't very well just wave my hands and say oh, I don't care, pick a destination! I don't know any orphanages in Floran, why would I? It's not like I'm Pearl, with -- ohhh

I'm an idiot! I always forget my friends aren't ... well, exactly court material!

[Filter: Pearl, Irving and Loki]

You're somewhat familiar with the orphanages in Floran, aren't you? Well, I know Pearl is, but I thought I would ask the two of you as well. Where would you send a young orphan girl with no family or connections or much of anything, if you had the money to pay whatever passage was required? Where would she be safe?

[Filter: Jack]

I need to know if you know anyone who could be trusted to take a young girl north to Floran without harming her, reselling her, or otherwise being disgusting, negligent or frightening. I can pay quite a lot if I have to, but you know that.
windsweptsummer: (Default)
[Filter: Irving and Loki]

Oh! Look, I think I see her! Hey, look, are you reading?? Ooh --

[a brief pause]

Yes! Your book! Open it! Not -- yes, thank you.

Look, they just walked in! There are only four, but they're headed right for that box. I do recognize that woman, I think. You both know what to do, yes? Take turns so no one gets too suspicious about one of you going missing for too long, and introduce yourselves as a personal valet. They probably won't ask for much. You might have to refill their water. They're from the church, after all, they won't be requesting wine. I think.

Remember, it's Lady Cassandra and Sister Genevieve. Take notes on anything they talk about, okay? Names, places, even if it just sounds like silly gossip!
windsweptsummer: (Default)
[Filter: Scott]

Well I won't say that Elyiethe wasn't suspicious. She most certainly was. I never ask for things like this! I told her that Sister Genevieve is a very influential person in the Church, and she laughed and said the Church is the last institution she expects to pull patronage from, which I suppose is very true but besides the point! But telling her that Lady Cassandra was a friend of Princess Fayre's did it. Easily! She is terribly fond of the princess. But really, aren't most people? Reasonable people, at least?

In any case I do have the tickets. Box seats for tomorrow evening. There's room for five, I do hope that's enough. I'll speak with the ushers this evening?
windsweptsummer: (every wish would be granted for me ;;)
[Filter: Scott]

Tomorrow! Madame Ophelia's! I've made reservations for all three of us, and that's a very nice place that one simply does not cancel reservations at. Or decline invitations to. Isn't it?
windsweptsummer: (Default)
[Filter: Pearl]

Before I finalize these reservations, I just wanted to make sure that you were serious about wanting to meet Sir Scott. That wasn't a joke, right? Because I'm quite serious. And he agreed to "think about it," which means he'll be coming. And I've been waiting for an excuse to go back to Madame Ophelia's. I still have dreams about their buttered garlic potatoes. Isn't that awful? I feel like such a parody of Hanalan girl, dreaming about potatoes!
windsweptsummer: (every wish would be granted for me ;;)
[Filter: Scott]

What would you say if I told you that I told Pearl you helped save her, and now she wants to meet you so she can thank you personally?
windsweptsummer: (Default)
[Filter: Jack]

Happy birthday!

I'm going to be busy at the theater most of the day, like usual, but if you don't have any other plans for this evening I was thinking we could either get a private booth at the Barnacle, rent out a ferry and see how far out they'll take us now that the river is getting ready to swell up for spring, or dress up in our nicest clothes and pretend to be courtiers again and see if we can make it back into one of the abandoned houses in the royal quarter. I like that idea best because I didn't really get to cook for you on Rose Day, so if I could bring a basket and we could find a serviceable kitchen ...

But those were just my ideas! You might already have ideas of your own. That would be fine, too.
windsweptsummer: (Default)
[Filter: Mari]

Is that actually Ebony, actually in Korin?? Failing completely at operating an oven?

Oooh faeries, I cannot believe Amelie is still not here because I need to talk to her about this right now! She would be amazed! Amazed! I wonder who she's cooking for. I wonder if it's April. I wonder if she dresses up like the Mystery Knight for her and does pegasus jousts at the Eina court. Faeries. Unbelievable.

-- Sorry, I know we have a whole party to get ready for, but -- Ebony!

Times have certainly changed!

[Filter: Jack]

We're cleaning up now, but we'll be off, soon! I just have to wait until Mari's had enough that I can plausibly tell her she doesn't remember things clearly in the morning.

[Filter: Scott]

I cannot believe you just ignored me! Was that too subtle for you? You are the worst! I bet you're just going to ignore this, too! What, are you busy? Did you have Rose Day plans after all??
windsweptsummer: (Default)
I cannot believe I am getting up and have to go do a show in a few hours! Everyone is going to be so distracted! This is ridiculous!

-- But the show is still going to be flawless and everyone should come! Especially anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Especially anyone who knows me personally who I have told to see and still hasn't seen it yet. Unless they have other plans for Rose Day which I highly doubt for reasons I cannot fully articulate but I'm certain are correct.

Ahem. But at least I do have the after party to look forward to. I am barely going to have time to cook a single thing today, poor Dimitri.
windsweptsummer: (Default)
[Filter: Scott]

Den told me you sent someone to collect a lot of what he owes you, this weekend. He was really quite grumpy! You shouldn't be so hard on him, he's doing the best he can. And when you make him nervous, he gets snappy with me, and then it's much less fun to tease him.

Also, you haven't so much as written a word to me since the new year and I consider that very rude. We're practically business partners, now, you know.
windsweptsummer: (every wish would be granted for me ;;)
[Filter: Pearl]

So ... how did it go? Did you have fun? Did it have a balcony, just like you said? I'm dying to know!!
windsweptsummer: (Default)
Happy New Year, everyone!

I'm so relieved to have these back. I don't suppose anyone from Hanalan is reading, right now? I mean -- not from, but actually there, now? If so, someone simply has to send a message to my sister and tell her to check these!

But I suppose some access is much, much better than everyone everywhere being cut off. That is what happened, isn't it? I'm sure it wasn't just Norey.
windsweptsummer: (Default)
I simply must know if that misunderstanding with Lionel has been cleared up! I haven't heard word in days and I have quite a lot to worry about without adding my silly wandering goodbrother to the list!
windsweptsummer: (for just one moment ;;)
[Filter: Private]

It isn't even really that impressive. Any man can take less than a minute to

No, I am not that pathetic.

I haven't even -- ugh. Focus, you silly little girl. She's just worried about Pearl and he's just being inexplicably polite, and even if not, who cares? Jack had a thousand girls before he ever even looked at you, even if he swears they weren't ... whores. Hmph.

Poor Jack. ...

[Filter: Jack]

I ... saw you writing a bit, the other day, but I didn't want to ...

Well. But it's been a few days, now. So -- How are you?
windsweptsummer: (the night grew cold and dark ;;)
[Filter: Scott]

-- I'm not sure what's going on. I tried writing to the Princess, but she said she'd heard enough before I'd even finished explaining, and then she stopped responding, and it's been almost twenty minutes and I'm afraid to say anything else. I think she's angry at me, oh dear.

If -- if you really need me to save Jack, then I -- obviously, I can't just do nothing, so. I suppose I have no choice.
windsweptsummer: (for just one moment ;;)
[Filter: Princess Fayre]

Hello? I'm so sorry to bother you, but I need your help with something. It's very important.

Please write back as soon as you see this, it's -- very, very important. Please.
